Yearly recommendations of acts to check out at Coachella 2015 from your favorite music crew that will make your ears happy and the bring on some strong feels
We’re in route like a lot of you to a desert in California to listen to some amazing music for the next three days. And like most of us in life we don’t always have the time to be overly obsessive about prepping ourselves for what’s to come. It’s cool, no need to stress, this is why you follow us, this is why we’re here. One word, five letters R-E-L-A-X…Over this last week we’ve gotten you ready, prepped your mind, body and spirit with videos and mixtapes and now to top that…we give you this! Who are we kidding?! Check out some acts we’re excited about. See you on the Polo Fields!
Why you should check them out: Coming off two really dope singles “Coffee” & “Hey Mami,” this Durham based duo is primed to make the desert its bitch! Hahaha, solid review right? It’s the truth whether you choose to believe it or not. Two more things to add, singer Amelia Meath & producer Nick Sanborn play in other bands Mountain Man and Megafaun,…which are both dope too! The force is strong in these two that’s why they’re on our list.
Why you should check them out: Some of the things we love in life: the way your feet feel on freshly cut grass, staying up all night to see the sunrise and Mexican food. Not necessarily in that order, but the last one encompasses more than just the tasties we throw down on the reg for nourishment, it embodies the culture and spirit that our friends south of the boarder embody.
Bostic + Fussible, are grammy nominated and have figured out how to mash up latin music into the dance music we love so much. Big comparison on our end to their NYC Brooklyn-based brethern LCD Soundsystem. That being said, Nortec Collective is probably worth the price of admission, we can’t wait to find out.
Why you should check them out: These two don’t play too many gigs stateside, but they’re here in the US for a month before they jump back over the pond. These guys are like RAC, strong remixers and producers in their own right. If disco is your thing, than these are your guys.
Why you should check him out: Stage Coach Festival isn’t for another two weeks so there has to be a good reason that Golden Voice would give this guy an opportunity on a bigger stage. Sturgill’s a refreshing throw back to those good ole country singers you used to know and love.
Why you should check her out: 2014 was the year of St. Vincent. A critically acclaimed album and more notoriety than one normal person really would want. But St. Vincent is the outlier and that makes her cooler than anything could ever write about here. Just understand this and make the this decision wisely. Cool shit always wins!
Why you should check him out: The kid finally made it to the big leagues. Being a headlining hip-hop artist might be the pinnacle of your hip-hop career or the last sign to truly signify the throne is yours. What you do with this type of responsibility is up to you. Sunday, Main Stage…Coachella is about to get trill as fuck…or really soft because we all know that Aubrey’s the type of dude who goes there. Stay tuned for the report.
Why you should check him out: Todd’s just a weird dude, living a weird life and doing weird things. Somehow in all this weirdness he can make your body move and make you feel so good about everything – check his videos for proof. Regardless, Todd Terje is a performer and one of the few electronic artist’s that play live with real instruments and the whole nine. No button pushers here.
Why you should check them out: We fucks with these guys heavy. We fucked with them the last time they played Coachella and we’re gonna fucks with them once again. It’s like that. We suggest you come on board and jump on the train. Rock & Roll is still alive suckas!
Why you should check him out: Do a google search of Kaskade’s 2012 Coachella set, listen to it and you’ll figure out real quick why we’re excited about him blessing the main stage. That 2012 Coachella set single handedly changed the lives of all the people that made it to the Sahara Tent that eve. This might top it.
