YEAH!
Yeaaaaah.
Yeah.
We use these letters a lot. As a word, or a phrase, even as an entire sentence. And depending on your delivery you can convey everything from super crazy excitement to world dominance. Yeah, it’s like that.
Today we want to explore how the term is used in musica. Specifically how it’s used in the hip-hop genre. Drilling down a bit we found the origins, the holy grail, the sample that started it all for rap music…a live track called, “Long Red,” by a group called Mountain – transformed the way we would come to hear the word forever. Sample on bitches!
And this is the first in a series of mix tapes for YEAH. Most of these tracks utilize multiple samples from the O.G. “Long Red” version (you’ll see that Yeah isn’t the only cultural term spawning from this song). There are also tracks on here that just make us feel…well like YEAH. However you decide to slice it, today we wanted to nerd out on a few roots.
Enjoy.
