OSHEAGA FESTIVAL MUST WATCH LIST #5 | Hyphen Hyphen

Lots of bands infuse dance elements into rock music, few do it with the energy and bravado currently being displayed by this French quartet.

French electro-rock always lends itself to traditional comparisons to Justice and Phoenix. Incorporating more live instrumentation the latter’s probably more along the lines of the sound of HYPHEN HYPHEN. But after a few listens we feel they have more a Tuneyard-esc quality to their style.

The one-thing that definitely separates Hyphen Hyphen from the crowd is their spontaneity and unpredictability. It’s no wonder there’s a strong buzz surrounding this band. We’re anxious to see how that energy translates on stage.
