1st world problems. It’s the default phrase we’ve coined from a space of privilege progressed.

They’re a dangerous set of words if you think about it. In them is an inherit laziness, a certain complacency, but how often do you stop to think of how those words came to be?

Lives were spared, wars fought, sides taken, all in the name of making our problems, our existence 1st world.

But yet, there’s a second world out there, third world and so on that would give
anything to be in our position. Ahmad’s School is a story of optimism, the story of Syrian refugees, the story of a people who began the same way all American’s have – from everywhere but here.

And in their message as a people is the spirit of fighting for a good life and not to be forgotten.

Fighting for a legacy, to give meaning to their life. It’s the least they deserve, it’s the least we all deserve.
