Typically we give you our take on these festival gatherings (we’ve been to a few), tending to lean on story lines that inspire.
The following is going down in a different manner.
We’re not gonna tell you what we thought was good, bad or stunk up the joint (we’re totally going to do all of these). That’s not how life works. We all experience, “experience,” in our own way. It comes bundled in sweet, messy packages filled with our own brand of opinions, feelings and always through an unique lens. So who the fuck are we to tell you how the festival was?
This year you’re in control. As you always are in each moment of this awesome life. You decide what was what. Sure, we’ll color in a few beautiful words here & there — but the story — that’s all you. That’s all any of us are doing anyway — authoring our journeys as we move along, living our lives the best way we know how. That’s what’s up.
Throughout you’ll see sites & sounds.
And at the end we’ll provide you with a complete list of artists who appeared in this post.
Please note that this is a collaboration post, featuring gorgeous photography from contributor Elizabeth Ramirez and myself.
Enjoy.
Deadmau5 had major sound malfunctions. That did not prevent the ears from banging. Govs will need to work on that. Also this year saw Jimmy of Rae Sremmurd severely injure his leg.
Little Dragon moving crowds.
If you don’t know Moon Taxi yet, start listening.
Atmosphere, still got it.
Ratatat provided seriously crazy visuals.
For those of you wondering about our comments on Drake. According to what we know about his Coachella performance, let’s say he moderately improved this go around. But if someone talks about brining out Kanye, Beyonce and the Weeknd, one of them should come thru. Please keep going.
If you’re not careful you will fall in love with Sharon Van Etten.
#Hotdamn Hotchip lighting up the Big Apple Stage on Sunday night.
We experimented here, resulting in one of the raddest videos we’ve ever done. Expect more of this from us — people can be so beautiful in these moments.
Flume coming in with the sickest set of Saturday Night and one that left the crowd wanting more.
Artist Featured / The Black Keys, Drake, Vance Joy, Atmosphere, Florence and the Machine, Little Dragon, Flume, Moon Taxi, Ryan Adams, Deadmau5, Hotchip, the beautiful attendees of the Governors Ball, the War on Drugs and Ratatat. For more of our Govs Ball photography please check out our instagram here to see more on what we we’re up to last weekend.
