Beats, Beaches & Bass: A first hand account on our WMC/MMW experience and all things in between

The shit show that is Winter Music Conference/Miami Music Week is behind us. All the glory of hosting hundreds of thousands of people has subdued with our dignity still intact – that is effin’ hard to do in this city during this time! We know a lot of you can’t say that, but when in Miami do Miami. And from the sights and sounds coming out of the 305 it felt like many of you did, and that we appreciate and that celebrate.

So what the hell did we get into last week? If you followed us on social media’s usual suspects facebook, twitter, ig, snapchat TSD was on full display covering parties throughout the week. In the shadow of Ultra’s enormous presence there exists an underbelly of authenticity that we set out to find. I think we succeeded for the most part, not gonna lie we ran into some hick ups a long the way and into some customary festival mishaps that happen when you’re trying to coordinate with an army of friends, industry peeps and event organizers, but shit, man did we have a good time! This is how it went down.

Flying Circus WMC MMW 2015

Party: Flying Circus at Maps Backlot

Vibe: Flying Circus brought a strong underground presence with djs Audiofly and Francesca performing a b2b set to headline this ever growing WMC event. Maps created a solid backdrop to listen to the deepest of house music and the venue wasn’t jam packed with heads that you had enough space to show off your dance moves.

Party: Pryda at Club Space

Vibe: For the nocturnal zombies and night owls of the world, Club Space, might be the epicenter of the universe. Marathon sets are the norm not the exception so if you want to be up for three days straight this is the place you come to for WMC/MMW. There’s always music playing and if you’re inside it’s always a party. Last Friday night was no different with Eric Prydz bringing Pryda back to Club Space with an extended set that showcased why he’s one of progressive house’s most innovated Djs/Producers. We wish we had some photos to show you but space might be the darkest place on earth, outside of the techno lighting, so capturing the perfect still image is next to impossible. Also we don’t really know if you want to know what goes on inside we just know you need to experience it for yourself.

Party: Life After Death vs. DFA: An Ocean Affair on the South Beach Lady Yacht

Vibe: Disco, Disco! We couldn’t ask for a more perfect place to end Winter Music Conference. The weather was on point and there was a crispiness in the air that made our entire experience on the waters of Biscayne Bay surreal. Never mind that you had arguably one of dance music’s most influential taste-makers providing the sounds going against a label pushing the darker poppy-er side of house music. It was a cosmic mix that you had to witness in order to understand. Shoutout to Dj Tennis who brought in the sunset with our favorite set of WMC.
