Colors – the property possessed by an object producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light

We hope your Tuesday is going lovely. Thank you for stopping in on this post. I’ve been thinking a lot about perception. A lot about how environments shape people’s thinking and views. To me, it always goes back to the conversation about nature vs. nurture. At different points in my life, I’ve landed on either side of this debate.

For now, I’m on the nurture side. I think the impact of our community, teachers, and peers have on us plays a huge role in developing our own idea of self.

This week’s mixtape, Colors, represents the view that the world is vibrantly filled with limitless possibilities each unique to our own experiences. Some of these we’re pre-disposed to because of genetics, race, culture – these are things that you’re born into. Others get molded over time, taking into account every situation we allow ourselves to interact with. Some of these are by choice, others not so much.

My hope is that we begin to realize that our differences create a more detailed picture of our lives, and we shouldn’t be cast down one direction but open to every possibility. Enjoy the music!
